Cardio & Neuro

If your heart has started fluttering, racing, or skipping for no reason, or you’re getting waves of dizziness, tingling, or a buzzing feeling that doesn’t match anything on a scan, it’s worth knowing this: these symptoms can be common in perimenopause, and they’re not always connected to it in standard care. Many women spend years being investigated by cardiologists and neurologists, told everything looks fine, and sent home no clearer. We always take these symptoms seriously and recommend proper assessment. We also look at what standard pathways can sometimes miss.

When the tests come back normal, but you still feel wrong

A My Clinic consultation looks at these symptoms in context. We talk through what you’re experiencing, what’s been investigated, what was ruled out, and what’s still not adding up.

Heart palpitations can affect a large proportion of women in perimenopause. Dizziness, pins and needles, internal tremors, and a sense of buzzing or vibration can also be common, and they may be connected by a shared underlying factor: oestrogen’s role in the nervous system and how it can stabilise everything from heart rate to nerve function.

Important to be clear: any heart, neurological, or vascular symptom deserves proper assessment, and we always support that. What we add is a hormonal lens that’s often missing. If your investigations have come back clear and you still don’t feel right, it’s worth a conversation that takes the perimenopausal context seriously.

Seek urgent care if palpitations are accompanied by chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, fainting, or pain radiating to the arm, jaw, neck, or back. In the absence of these features, palpitations in a perimenopausal context warrant discussion with a health professional rather than management with worry alone. Seek support for dizziness, tingling, or internal tremors if they are persistent, worsening, or significantly affecting your confidence and daily function, or if you have not found a satisfying explanation through previous investigations.

Treatment options vary between individuals. Any prescribing or management plan is determined by your Nurse Practitioner based on your personal health history and circumstances.

What's right for you?

If your heart has been racing, your head has been spinning, or you’ve been living with unexplained tingling or internal tremors, you deserve more than reassurance that your tests came back normal. These symptoms are real, and for many women in perimenopause, hormonal change is the missing piece of the puzzle.

A MyClinic Nurse Practitioner can take the time to listen to your full picture — not just your results — and discuss whether hormonal or other contributing factors may be driving what you’re experiencing.

Booking is straightforward and you can attend from home. If you’re not sure your symptoms fit, that’s completely fine — a general health appointment is a great place to start the conversation.

Not sure if you symptons match the condition. Not a problem, one of our clinicians can discuss them with you and help narrow down possible causes and effective treatments. Just book a general health appointment.
